Just a bit better than average 50+ dad still keen to learn and progress. I’m doing more downhill and jump trails than ever and documenting these so I can look back on my progress and hopefully inspire others at a similar stage to keep pushing your limits.

Atherton Windhill Demo Day Am170 v AM200

Ted and me trying out the Atherton AM170 back to back with my am200 at the Atherton Windhill Demo Day. Still tired from BPW 2 days before so didn’t do much with the push up at Windhill! But, got a good impression. To note, the demo 170 was a 480 reach, Atherton recommend a 500mm for my 6ft1. Ted is 6ft3 and the 480 reach felt like a dirt jump bike in size for him! Not much talking, just riding ...

Nice one, take a bit of time I found to get the lines right through the turns. Once I got that which too some time, I got through it all.
Congrats on getting all of them 🤘Thanks for the tips! I found the corners are tricky to carry enough speed, had to put a few pedals in before the third jump. Did you take a high line then pump down as you come out?
@888-mtb No probs, the vid is on my channel. So I go easy over the first two, keeping to the right for the berm going fairly high. Then to the left on the gap before the berm, again going high ish. Couple of pedals to clean the next gap then you're good for the Booter 😃 It took me quite a while to be honest. Cased the big one first few times before I got the flow.
Nice riding dude :) Interesting you did the middle Payrise drop straight off, I assume you've done it before? Any tips on how to get over the fear of doing it? I know my bike and skills are up to it, but it plays with your head because you don't see the landing till you're right on the lip. How did you overcome it for the first time please? :)
Hey, thanks dude. This wasn’t my first time on the middle but still scary (just about getting comfortable with it now). I did the left had chicken run over and over. After a couple of goes I found I wasn’t touching the down ramp at all, but kept doing it a few more times until I was landing about a third of the way down the dirt landing. That convinced me I could do the middle, which was actually a bit easier as the run in is straighter and you land with more room either side. Following my lad in helped to gauge my speed, but you don’t need much. Literally just ride off, no pop or anything and it’ll be perfect. Good luck with it dude, you’ll be so stoked when you’ve got it. Next up the big one 😳 which my lad says is just as easy.. I’m not yet convinced 🤣
This video has done a great job of getting me hyped to go back this weekend! 3rd time, last run of the last time I hit A470 (had just re-opened) gutted I left it till last coz it was mega. Nice riding guys
Thanks bud. I wish I’d done A470 earlier too! I wasn’t sure I’d have it so left it to the end as well. Like you say.. mega trail! Flows so well. Have a good one at the weekend 👍
Good effort lad. Mint bike as well🤙
Thanks bud 👍 the bike is giving me new confidence at 50+ to try new things!😂 🤘
nice, need to get back to BPW soon
Thanks. Yeah me too, hopefully in the next few weeks. It’s such a great place isn’t it and everything is so well built. It just flows! 🤘
Nice work bud!
Thanks bud, it’s all in the head.. usually anyway! 👍
@@888-mtb I was there Thursday and bottled it !😂😂
@@stuartdouglass01 I wasn’t going to try it. Then I did ac/dc jumps and came back, after that I could visualise it like a table top and went for it. Once you’ve done it you’ll love it. It’s easier than it looks!
Managed the first jump last visit, the rest beat me😢
Well done. The second is exactly like the first. If you clear the first just stay of the brakes and you’ll flow over 🤘
@888-mtb good work bud, we are heading to BPW Friday evening and I might just have to give these a go after watching your vid 💪🤙
<3
Awesome 🙌. I’m heading to BPW in a couple of weeks with my AM170 and I’m looking forward to riding there after obsessing riding Dyfi!🤣
Awesome. Have a good one. I haven’t ridden Dyfi yet, need to get up there. Unfortunately it was snowing when I picked the bike up!
@@888-mtb blimey dude, Dyfi will blow your mind 🤯. It’s so different to BPW and my absolute favourite bike park. It’s where your 200 will truly come to life, especially on Race Track👌
Voilà une voile bien pliée
Thank you 🙏
I have a single swing arm Ducati 899 panigale that converted they are amazing motorcycle I love it!! I would not swap her for anything.please do me favour do not explain yourself to these jealous losers you have a beautiful machine god bless
The best 899 I ever seen beautiful.
That bike is the quietest I've ever not heard...Only discovered them recently but these are the bikes to aspire to imo. Absolutely second to none on the build quality. Nice vid. looks like you had a blast! Thanks for the upload.
It is spookily quiet! It’s surprising how much difference that makes to your riding. Cheers 👍
What is the trail @1:22? I need to go there in the next week or so
It’s called Pixiedust. Great little trail.
In the thumbnail, is it an optical illusion as the guy on the rights bars look like they are about 900mm wide.
😂 yeah I see what you mean! lol. I think it must be the camera, they’re 800 at most.
@@888-mtb Nice riding btw, lots of roots!
How do i find the trails. is it an app or just luck?
Trailforks is a good app to find trails generally, although there’s many more unlisted that you just need to look out for or find someone who knows 🤘
Where is that second trail looks like some fun jumps
Hey, sorry I missed this comment 😳. That second trail is called Pixiedust. It’s one of the best and is in the north west quadrant, running next to the dual carriageway. If your local have a look for the facebook group and I’ll explain more there 🤘
The iota handles great, by the look of it! Are you still flying this wing? Best, Rob
It was a great handling wing. I don’t have it now though
Current Value - Evac 🔊 perfect track to amp u up ⚡⚡⚡
You brought the right tool for the job. Awesome bike mate.
Cheers mate. Loving the 150, great all around tool. 🤘
Nice one It was tough just to get down it for us newbie’s 👍👍
Thanks dude. There was a couple of challenging sections for sure but I enjoyed it. Reckon I’ll do another one 🤘😀
Nice work man, but slick at the bottom by looks of things
Cheers dude. Was a bit, the tricky bit was the first few steep switchbacks.. camera really doesn’t do justice to the steep, rooty sketchiness 😂🤙
Yes mate! Was there today for a super fun day out. Good job
Cheers mate, great day out 👍
Looks like a fun little riding spot you have there. Easy to loop?
Thanks, yes we’re pretty lucky having this playground! Easy to loop, it’s packed with decent trails.
Nice riding, so much fun to be had there.
Ripping 💨
Windhill 🔛🔝
Interesting how people match ability with ambition.
Not sure what you point is here? It’s just a video of me and my lad enjoying a day at a bike park. Not pretending to be anything other.
Superb video !!!….. is that a GoPro your using , footage is excellent in mixed light , what settings are you using , did you correct it in post edit ,
Cheers 👍 yeah GoPro 8. 24fps, 4k, superview, half strength stabilisation. Nothing done in post, straight from camera 😀
Looked like a good session. I loved that cheeky inside overtake on Empuru.
Nice riding 👌
That place is awsome …. I don’t know that first trail though , how do I find that ?
It’s one of a few in the north east corner past snap, crackle and pop
which one is snap, crackle and pop?@@888-mtb
Fantastic & efficient method!
Nice place just up the road from me.😊
Me too, close enough to pedal there 🤘
Can you stilluse the 899 caliper and shock?
Where is that????
Hey, just come across the video, I live locally but don’t know my way around Puddletown, I’ve found a couple of bits but nothing like all this also don’t have Facebook but if you see a bloke on a Nukeproof giga looking lost I’d appreciate a point in the right direction! 😂 great vid
Nice Duc 👌🏼
sorry to ask here, just wondering if you still have the panigale and if you would be willing to sell the tft dash ?
Hi, yes and no thanks. There was an abundance of them on eBay back when I did mine.. have you looked there?
@@888-mtb haha yes but yours is the only one that doesn’t have a check engine light , if you could please send the item or serial number from yours so I could find the same one ? Would really appreciate it, thanks again
NIce riding mate ! , How are the Hunt Enduro wides holding up so far ?
Very well actually, I’m about 750 miles on them now and straight as a die despite lots of rough trails, regular drops and jumps. There’s a 6ft drop to almost flat on our regular that hasn’t knocked it out so far 😆. I’d buy them again for sure.
@@888-mtb good to hear mate 🤘🏼😅
Superb video , I’ve just started riding puddletown , I’m keen on riding the rhododendron trail with the fork , is it on trail forks ? Has it got a name ? Thanks
Hey Steve, have a look for our Facebook page below.. I can show you around the forest some time, I’m there most weekends. facebook.com/groups/389772879240822/?ref=share_group_link
Thanks , that’s very good of you , I’m normally up there from 8 am Saturdays , have you tried a 360 GoPro yet , the footage is very impressive
Triple eight, can you tell me who you got to custom your rear break hose off, so then I can copy your order.thanks
Your dash doesn’t have a check engine light. Was this of a 1199 , 1199s or 1199r could you give the serial number act pleaseeeee
Wow! this is forsure on the whist when i get out to the uk! wish nz had jumps like this
Nice! Cool jumps 🤙 SB150 is awesome , I own a Yeti SB150 too :)
Good bit of riding Ted! Looks like the Bikepark is in prime condition!
What bikes ? Hardtail ? Full suss?
Hey, this was my old Yeti SB66 26” wheel, my lad was on his Trek Hardtail. Check out some of my later videos doing more puddletown trails on my 29er full suss
Hi i d like to ask where did you get the clear clutch please ? How much did it cost you ? Thank you
Can you use any Ducati swing arm bike for your conversion
Thanks for the in depth reply, much appreciated, I’ve demo’d a SB150 & a 130 in Malvern recently, had a blast on both, found that the 150 would need taming as it had me over the bars twice, I’m putting that down to being on a biketrail I’d never rode before, the 130 threw me off once, but that was on a patch of ice. I was all set on a 130, but now I’m leaning towards a 150 as I’ll be looking to do more uplift days, & I think the 150 maybe more suited to that than the 130.
No problem. For me it was between the 140 and 150. I’ve got no regrets so far, it’s an incredible machine. I’ve not had any “this is hard work” thoughts going uphill, and downhill it’s amazing. Love it. Good luck with whatever you decide. Let me know…
Will do, I've gotta sell mine first, I must be only one of a minority that's going from an emtb back to a normal bike 🤣🤘
